Monday, December 3rd, 2007:

Ms. Jansen came into class today and introduced this project to us. We created this website, and began creating a timeline. Today was also my first day for research. I called Madison, and we decided that I should research topics number 1 and 2. So, I researched the classification of Arthrobacter Globiformis as well as determine whether it is gram-positive or gram-negative, while Madison researched topics 3 and 4. I could find close to no information on the databases provided for us, so I resolved to using the free web. I got most of my information from a website called MicrobeWiki. The link is http://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Arthrobacter.

To be honest, I had no idea that this bacteria even existed until I researched it. I found that it's just a soil bacteria. It is aerobic and gram-positive. Tomorrow, I will continue on with my research with researching topics 5 and 6. I will continue to look for more information about topics 1 and 2 in the textbook and other resources.

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007:

Today, we finished our timeline in class. We decided that I would research nutritional requirements and reproduction, while Madison would research history and beneficial properties. We met after school in the library until 5:30 so that we could try to find good websites together. We found a few from www.google.com, but we still didn't feel like we were getting enough information. I found a very limited amount of information on reproduction from http://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Arthrobacter. I honestly couldn't find ANYTHING on nutritional requirements. Tomorrow, I plan on researching interesting and unusual facts about our bacteria as well as problems associated with loss of bacteria in the environment. I'm also going to continue to try to find more information about nutritional requirements and reproduction.

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007:

Today, Ms. Rasmussen helped me out during my free period to research nutritional requirements and reproduction. I found a lot of good information with her help. Tomorrow, I plan on researching useful or interesting facts and problems associated with the lack of my bacteria.

Thursday, December 6th, 2007:

Today, we worked in class on our websites, so I got a good amount of work done during school which was helpful. I researched interesting and unusual facts as well as problems associated with lack of arthrobacter globiformis. I found some good information on the website we have been using throughout this whole process, http://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Arthrobacter. During the weekend, I'm going to research additional topics and just get caught up with this in general.

Weekend (December 7th-9th):

I've been doing research from the main website we've been using, as well as looking at the sources that it lists. I found some good information which was not listed on the main website which was beneficial to my research. I have been very busy this weekend, so I have not been working on this project as much as i have been normally.

Monday, December 10th:

Today, my main task was to complete the Antibiotic Sensitivity Lab Report, so I did not have time to work on this at all. Tomorrow, however, I plan on finding things like pictures or media that make the website more exciting.

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007:

Today, I added pictures to the website. There is now a picture page on our website, and I think that adds a lot. Also, we added a song called "Bacteria" to our home page.

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007:

Madison made a quiz for our website. We are just working out getting it to be better and more interesting. Tomorrow, I have a lab report to do, so I will not have time to work on the website.

Thursday, December 13th, 2007:

Today, I worked on my lab report, so I did not have time to work on our website. This weekend, we plan on compiling our information and putting it on the front page.

Weekend (December 14th-16th, 2007):

I added a page that has our combined notes on it. I also made sure I cited all of our sources correctly on CitationBuilder. Also, I have done free web evaluations for the websites we have used that are not from the databases. I am just working on getting the website to be as good as possible before I send it on! I have been working really hard on it, and I finally think that we are ready to turn ours in. I am excited to see what other people's look like.
